ANTONIA DIAMONDS is the sculptural jewellery vision of Antonia Mavrocordatos — an artist and designer devoted to creating limited edition fine jewellery crafted in the UK and one-of-a-kind high jewellery pieces that blur the line between sculpture and adornment. Her practice is rooted in form, ethics, and creative authorship.
Antonia is a sculptor-jeweller working primarily with carved stones, directing the form and materiality of each one-of-a-kind piece — brought to life by master artisan collaborators. She works closely with lapidarists to realise sculptural forms, such as bangles carved from gemstones like quartz, which are then set with precious stones to create singular, wearable works of art.
Of Greek heritage and based in Sydney, Antonia draws on a multidisciplinary background spanning classical sculpture training, fashion, film production, drawing, and painting. She has studied at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, and in Paris at the Van Cleef & Arpels L'École School of Jewellery Arts — completing a range of courses from wax modelling to setting techniques, French jewellery history to Japanese lacquer, design mock-ups to gouache painting in high jewellery.
She has sought mentorship from renowned goldsmith artisans, while further honing her expertise through ongoing training at a Sydney sculpture studio, working with materials such as alabaster stone. This immersive experience refines her technical knowledge and deepens her understanding of sculptural form in relation to the body.
Antonia has also studied at the prestigious Gemmological Association of Australia, including one year of formal gemmology, practical diamond grading, jewellery sketching and design, and the fine art of pearl threading — a skill integral to high jewellery. Her commitment to understanding the materiality of gemstones enhances her practice as a sculptor-jeweller, grounding it in knowledge as well as intuition.
Her designs reflect a fascination with movement, asymmetry, and the intimate relationship between sculpture and the human body. This philosophy — form-driven, spatial, and body-conscious — guides her bold artistic direction and ongoing evolution.
Her upcoming body of work explores sculptural high jewellery that further blurs the line between sculpture and adornment. Hand-carved quartz is elevated through bold form and minimal metal. Each one-of-a-kind piece is conceived as an object of quiet power — sensual, modern, and distinctly personal.
These sculptural jewellery pieces are crafted using 100% recycled platinum and Fairmined gold — the highest global standard for sustainable, ethical and traceable gold. Working closely with master artisans in Australia and the UK, Antonia creates slow-made, sustainable jewellery imbued with artistic intent. Her most recent designs were conceived in Paris during her residency in December.
