ANTONIA DIAMONDS is the sculptural jewellery vision of Antonia Mavrocordatos- an artist and designer devoted to designing limited edition fine jewellery crafted in the UK and one of a kind high jewellery pieces- that blur the line between sculpture and adornment; rooted in form, ethics, and creative authorship. Antonia is a sculptor jeweller working primarily in carved stones, directing the form and materiality of each piece, which is brought to life by artisan collaborators.
Of Greek heritage and based in Sydney, with a diverse background in classic sculpture training, fashion, film production, drawing and painting; studying at the Julian Ashton Art School, and studying in Paris at the Van Cleef and Arpels L'ecole School of Jewellery Arts; Wax Project to Setting Techniques, French Jewels to Japaenese Lacquer, Design to Mock up, and The Gouache in High Jewellery. Antonia has seeked mentorship and guidance from renowned goldsmith artisans in the industry. Currently undergoing training at a Sydney studio, Antonia is immersed in an experience that refines her techniques, explores innovative approaches, and elevates her understanding in crafting exquisite sculptor jewellery pieces. In addition to her creative pursuits, Antonia has studied at the prestigious Gemmological Association of Australia, including one year of Gemmology- this commitment to understanding the intricacies of gemstones, their quality, and their characteristics further enhances her expertise as a sculptor jeweller, Practical Diamond Grading, Jewellery Sketching and Design, and Pearl threading; stringing is a fine art within High Jewellery. Antonia's multidisciplinary background has helped shape her visual language and approach to form.
Her designs reflect a fascination with movement, asymmetry, and the intimate relationship between sculpture and the human body. She is continuously studing classic sculpture training in Sydney working with Alabaster stone, reinforcing the philosophy behind her work- form driven, spatial and body conscious. A bold artistic direction that continues her evolution as a sculptor and sculptor jeweller.
Antonia's next body of work explores a sculptural high jewellery collection that blurs the line between sculpure and adornment, hand carved quartz is elevated through bold form and minimal metal. Each piece is sculpted as an object of quiet power- sensual, modern, and distinctly personal, a bold artistic direction that continues her evolution as a sculptor jeweller. The Sculptor jewellery pieces crafted by Antonia are created using Platinum- 100 percent recycled and Fairmined gold, the highest global standard for ethical and traceable gold. Working closely with master artisans in Australia and the UK, Antonia designs sculptor jewellery that is slow-made, sustainable and imbued with artistic intent- each piece is conceived as a sculptural form, designed in Paris during her residency in December.
